With all due respect, you’re an asshole

I was in the train on my way back from the daily routine, sat down in a pretty crowded coupe. This guy A talks to guy B about blablablablabla… (which I don’t really give a damn), until the following statement came up: “with all due respect sir, you’re an asshole”.

WTF!?!? Really, I mean, what the fuck?

After thinking about it, most of the time when you use the term “with all due respect”, you actually complete the sentence with some statement that shows that you actually don’t respect what you’re trying to respect. You’re just softening the insult (or disagreement for that respect).

“With all due respect, I think the wine is corked”
“With all due respect, you’re statement is wrong”
“With all due respect, you’re an asshole”
“With all due respect, you look fat in that dress”

See my point? You can just say “you’re an asshole”, but you’ll ended up your shit getting beaten up by the other person (or slapped :P ).

The same story goes with the phrase “No offence”.

What I found from the net: These phrases are just too commonly being used  “when saying something that would normally be offensive, but the speaker does not intend it to be.” — OWH COME ON! Admit it! You just want to offense the othery party!

Ain’t language is just making your little miserable life even miserable-er ? :P
